We are happy to invite you to an informal get-together in the bar at CASA 400, where we will have our own designated space. Drinks and bites are at your own expense.
Thursday 3 November, welcome at 18.30
CASA 400, bar East 57
The setting of the Gala Dinner is a lovely dining room in Amsterdam Central Station, which provides a wonderful cotrast to the modern conference venue CASA 400.
The Central Station in Amsterdam was designed by architect Pierre Cuypers from Roermond between 1881 and 1889.
The old waiting rooms in Grand Café Restaurant 1e Klas were fully renovated and kept intact for the public to enjoy. You can still experience the old (waiting) times of the past.
The Chief Government Architect of the Netherlands is often associated with the Rijksmuseum (1876-1885) and the Central Station in Amsterdam. Cuypers designed and renovated many exquisite churches, chapels and monasteries. The royal throne (1904) from which the throne speech is presented every year (on Prince’s Day) was also designed by the Netherlands’ most famous architect. His craftsmanship is highly praised, and he is often seen as the man who breathed new life into architecture in the Netherlands. Influential and inspiring to many such as H.P. Berlage and Michel de Klerk.
